Resolved Question: (Multiple paragraphs) Is this relationship considered illegal? What can me and my BF do about this situation?

7 March 2010, 8:57 pm

I’m a 13 year old female that’s in a relationship (or “in love” as we call it) with a 17 year old male. We are not physically / sexually attracted to each other. We are emotionally attracted to each other. It’s a strictly non-physical / non-sexual relationship. All of my friends approve. All of his friends approve. And the both of our friends are supportive of us being in a relationship! The only people that are not supportive of our relationship are our parents. I live in a town called “Milton Freewater” and he lives in a town called “Walla Walla”, (Walla Walla is on the border of Washington, Milton Freewater is on the border of Oregon, and the distance between the two places is approximately 10-20 minutes. So what I’m wondering is if this is illegal according to Washington state laws, if this is illegal according to Oregon state laws, and this will be illegal when he turns 18? Also, my parents used a “keystroke key logger” to access our conversation history (I’m certain it was a “keystroke key logger” at least) and they threatened him and his parents to turn the conversation history into the police. The text made it appear as if he was talking a sexual manner although the text was indeed written by one of his best friends joking around on Windows Live Messenger. So they threatened to press charges against him for “rape” and “statutory rape” when it was his best friend writing that and not him. The two of us want to be in a relationship with each other despite the fact that all of this is happening. Will my boyfriend get in trouble for all of this happening? They have the “evidence” however we don’t have evidence that it was it was his best friend and not him. What will happen if we continue our relationship despite our parents wishes? Remember, our relationship is non-physical, non-sexual, and we practice abstinence. And one more question, if my parents file a restraining order on him (can they file a restraining order?) And whether or not it would violate the restraining order to speak with each other indirectly (on the internet via MySpace, MSN, etc) thank you. Please help, :-) Also, will you please locate me a link of the text of the Washington state law and / or Oregon state law showing whether or not it’s legal if you happen to find one? This situation bothers me a lot considering me and my boyfriend are in love with each other. And my boyfriend is innocent as well as miserable. But assures me that it will be okay.... Read More »
